The Trustees of the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation have approved new grants and contributions to:
PoweredbyData ($150,000)
A grant from the Foundation will increase the business development and communications capacity of PoweredbyData, a Tides Canada project, which aims to meet the growing demand for better use of data in the sector by helping organizations approach data and open data more strategically.
People for Education ($180,000)
People for Education will be able to continue engaging policy-makers, researchers, educators and parents in the work of an initiative called Measuring What Matters, which is focused on competencies and measurement tools to improve and monitor school performance on more holistic student outcomes: creativity, citizenship, social-emotional skills, and physical/mental health.
Tamarack ($1,000,000)
The Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement is continuing the work of Vibrant Communities Canada by supporting municipal-provincial policy innovation and collaboration related to poverty reduction with the goal of disseminating breakthrough poverty reduction initiatives across Canada.
Centraide of Greater Montreal ($2,000,000)
The Foundation has partnered with the Chagnon Foundation and several other private foundations to enable Centraide of Greater Montreal (Centraide) to launch a large-scale Collective Impact Project with the goal of improving the lives of Montreal’s most vulnerable residents while collaborating on an innovative approach to neighbourhood revitalization.
