The Foundation congratulates Ian Bird, leader of McConnell grantee Sport Matters Group and former Olympian, who will become Community Foundations of Canada (CFC)’s new CEO.
“Ian has an impressive track record of engaging people in the discussions that matter, bringing them to consensus, and then rallying them around a cause to create lasting change,” said Faye Wightman, the Chair of CFC’s Board of Directors. “He’s a responsive, innovative and driven leader – a great fit for Canada’s community foundation movement.” (from CFC website)
Ian will succeed Monica Patten who has overseen CFC’s growth from 28 members in 1993 to 170 community foundations today.
