“I don’t know if the British Council could have put together a more inspiring or brilliant group of people to embark on this new opportunity.”

Students for social impactThat’s the verdict of just one of 18 Canadian and British students participating in the British Council’s Students for Social Impact initiative, a Re-Code partnership.

Students for Social Impact is an international work-study exchange pilot programme. Undergraduate students from Canada and the UK are contributing to life-changing social enterprises in both countries, gaining valuable overseas experience, and connecting with other young leaders of the future. Students for Social Impact is made possible through funding provided by the Foundation’s Re-Code initiative and the British Council.

The quote above is from participating student Ashley Dujlovic, studying sociology at Wilfrid Laurier University. She also writes on her blog, “I had the incredible pleasure of meeting the 17 other Canadian and British students who will be going along this journey with me. We all began our adventure completely solo, filling out an application, slowly became internet friends on our Facebook group, and have turned into a family within the last 2 days.” Read more of Ashley’s blog.
