Together Project – MakeWay

Background of Organization

Founded in Toronto in 2016, Together Project, a charitable initiative of MakeWay, connects refugee newcomers and Canadians to build stronger, more integrated communities. Together Project connects volunteers and newcomers, based on shared preferences, interests, and skills, and supports community engagement through partnership with local service agencies. 

Project Description

Through their Welcome Group Program (WGP), the Together Project matches volunteers with newcomers for six months of social and integration support. Volunteers help newcomers address their unique integration priorities such as language learning, career navigation, access to education, healthcare, or digital inclusion. Funding will be used to implement a scaling plan and expand its Toronto-based model to new cities.
