The Public Health Association of British Columbia (BC), the lead organization championing Farm-to-Cafeteria (F2C) activity in that province, will oversee this project with the Alberta Public Health Association (APHA). Their shared mission is to preserve and promote the public’s health. The Board of Directors of each organization is comprised of public health leaders and practitioners. With over 120 years of combined experience, and close to 800 members, these two organizations bring a wealth of expertise to this project.
This grant will support an 18-month project to research existing F2C programs and develop a strategic plan to disseminate best approaches. This project will build on existing assets and address current gaps through:
- surveying the F2C landscape in Canada, including the compilation of information on the types of relevant programs in Canada, policies that support or hinder them, and the opportunities and challenges they face;
- establishing Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) as a national network to coordinate F2C activities, involving the development of governance and programmatic activities for F2CC;
- creating a three-year plan to guide the support and expansion of F2C programs in Canada.
