Founded in 2010, Pour 3 points (P3P) supports sports coaches so they can become life coaches. P3P promotes community leadership skills in young people by supporting coaches to shift from simply nurturing athletics skills to helping young people reach their full potential.
P3P will use a grant from the Foundation to develop a shorter version of its curriculum and prepare to operate as a network. Pour 3 points’ current model is centred on providing sports coaches with an intensive year-long training so that they are better equipped to act as life mentors for young athletes. This model has gained acceptance in Montreal and the organization is now ready to expand beyond the city. To expand this approach, P3P aims to develop a two-staged approach:
- Basic training available to all coaches in school boards and sports federations.
- Year-long training for those who seek to deepen their knowledge.
Deploying these two approaches will be a move from a centralized model to a “train the trainer” approach.
