Omega Foundation

With a three-year pilot project now under way in Toronto, the Omega foundation is working with its partners to increase the level of awareness and participation among low-income families in the federal government’s Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) program and the supplementary Canada Learning Bond.

The project will work to improve public policy and government practice – ensuring that scholarship trust funds are subject to plain language disclosure guidelines; that a model is developed for making charitable donations to RESPs for low income families; and that provinces, municipalities and First Nations explore mechanisms for automatic RESP enrolment for the children of qualifying families.
