Jane’s Walk

Background

Jane’s Walk is a series of free walking tours that helps people learn about their cities and neighbourhoods, understand how change occurs, and how they can become involved in creating more livable cities. Launched in 2007 in Toronto, the Jane’s Walk event was created by friends of Jane Jacobs to celebrate her life and ideas. The organization that emerged around this event has introduced Jane’s Walks to over 100 cities in 20 countries, resulting in over 600 walks annually, and growing every year.

Full Description

With support from the Foundation’s Social Innovation Fund, Jane’s Walk will develop, test and evaluate strategies for a new business model. By strengthening the organization’s core capacities, Jane’s Walk will evolve from a successful program to an organization with an enduring impact on civic engagement and neighbourhood resilience.
