Background of organization

Efficiency Canada, housed at Carleton University’s Sustainable Energy Research Centre, is the national voice for an energy efficient economy. Its mission is to create a sustainable environment and better life for all Canadians by making the country a global leader in energy efficiency policy, technology and jobs.  It supports a broad spectrum of small and medium enterprises, labour and training organizations and other not-for-profit organizations.

Project description

This project will address energy poverty by: increasing efficiency program spending in households experiencing energy poverty, researching and benchmarking energy poverty programs and spending, supporting concerted communications and targeted training programs for local advocacy and tenant rights organizations. It will also increase opportunities for women to enter the energy efficiency workforce by connecting them to subsidized training programs and creating conditions for them to gain employment in the sector.  The project will seek for key Indigenous organizations to partner in advocating  for Indigenous energy efficiency policies and investments.
