de Gaspé Beaubien Foundation

Background

Founded in 1990, the de Gaspé Beaubien uses “entrepreneurial philanthropy” to support individuals, families in business, and organizations in becoming responsible agents of positive and sustainable change within their communities.

Grant Description

Aquahacking is an annual coding competition and summit generating new water management applications and mobilizing cross-sectoral dialogue around the challenges, strategies and commitments to solve water issues. After a successful pilot event in Ottawa in 2015, spurring both the Ontario and Quebec environment ministers to create a Joint Ontario-Quebec Committee on Water Management for the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River, the de Gaspé Beaubien Foundation is focusing the 2016 event in Montreal. The aim of the event is to create an engaging space for collaborations among First Nations, governments, community organizations and industry professionals, and to redefine the current relationships and authority flows in the water management system of the Montreal region.
