Community Food Centres Canada

Background:

Community Food Centres transform community food banks with a suite of inspiring and engaging programs that involve communities in growing, sharing and learning about food. Growing out of The Stop Community Food Centre in Toronto, Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) became an independent national organization in 2011, providing ideas, resources and a well-tested model to partner organizations across Canada so they can establish responsive, financially stable Community Food Centres.

Grant description:

In response to interest from cities across Canada, and based on the successful launch of two Foundation-supported demonstration projects in Ontario, this grant will support the dissemination of CFCC’s approach through the development of four new community food centres in cities outside of Ontario. It will also support the CFCC’s learning network and the development of high operating standards and reliable outcome measurements.
