Community Energy Association

Background

Community Energy Association is a BC-based charity that supports local governments to accelerate the application of energy efficiency and renewable energy in all aspects of community design, infrastructure and stakeholder engagement for sustainability. On this project, it is partnering with Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow (QUEST), an Ottawa-based non-profit engaging in applied research, policy analysis, outreach and capacity building to collaboratively transform Canadian communities into smart energy communities, and Sustainable Prosperity, a national research and policy network based at the University of Ottawa that focuses on market-based approaches to build a greener, more competitive economy.

Full Description

This grant will support the development of an integrated Community Energy Planning Framework and a set of resources that Canadian communities can use to create more sustainable, livable communities. This includes research culminating in a publication for local governments and strategic partners, a series of workshops in six communities across Canada, a symposium to test the Framework and do collaborative problem solving, and implementation in three test communities.
