A grant from the Foundation will enable the Canadian Council for Refugees’s Youth Network to reach more newcomer youth across Canada and increase the network’s sustainability.
Background of the Org:
The Canadian Council for Refugees is a national non-profit organization representing over 200 immigrant-serving organizations across the country. The council serves the networking, information-exchange and advocacy needs of its membership through conferences, working groups, publications and policy advocacy. It is a leading voice for immigrant and refugee rights in Canada. Its Youth Network was created in 2006 and promotes newcomer youth leadership and civic engagement.
This funding will strengthen the Youth Network’s ability to engage local newcomer-serving organizations and newcomer youth. Specifically, it will support the development of provincial branches of the Youth Network to support more youth and deepen the reach including in smaller centres. The grant will help build capacity among newcomer-serving non-profits, including trainings for youth leadership and engagement. Finally, this grant will support the Youth Network as it works towards a sustainable funding model.
