Canadian CED Network (CCEDNET)

Background:

Formed in 1997 by a group of CED organizations to address common concerns, CCEDNET works to define, develop and support best practice in CED across Canada, including continuous innovation, guidance and support for upcoming CED leaders.

CCEDNet, in collaboration with the University of Victoria, coordinates a national network of academics and community partners engaged in action research on the social economy.

Grant Description:

Community Service-Learning (CSL) has the potential to transform students’ postsecondary experience and to redefine universities’ relationship with their surrounding communities. By contributing research capacity and student participation to social needs, CSL also has the potential to revitalize the community sector.

CCEDNet will develop and support two learning networks for community development service-learning: one focused on community-based organizations, the other on students. These networks will complement the Foundation’s university-based community service-learning initiative.

The activities of the learning networks may include tele-learning, an Internet-based platform for sharing resources and tools, an annual in-person meeting of the networks, a series of published case studies and participation of students in the broader youth in CED work of CCEDNet.
