Breakfast Club of Canada

Background:

Launched in 1996, Breakfast Club of Canada (BCC) is an internationally recognized organization providing nutritious breakfasts and ancillary programming to economically disadvantaged and vulnerable youth in schools across Canada, reaching 130,000 students daily in every province, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories — including 140 First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.

Grant description:

Building on BCC’s work with communities in Northern Manitoba, Northern Quebec, and Northern Alberta to improve food security for vulnerable populations, a grant from the Foundation will enable BCC to introduce activities such as community food purchasing plans and other related activities in several remote regions and support the work of regional coordinators in remote Indigenous communities. Regional coordinators will work closely with community leaders to create action plans for addressing local food insecurity.
