Background of the organization

Stand Environmental Society (Stand.earth) is a team of strategists, researchers, communicators, policy and issue experts — part of a global network of donors, activists and community members from all walks of life, united for transformational change and efficient problem-solving on climate and environmental issues. Stand.earth builds power side-by-side with the frontline communities most impacted by the environmental crises that are the ongoing legacy of colonization and capitalism – Indigenous Peoples, Black communities, Communities of Colour and low-income communities both rural and urban.   

Project description

Funding will be used to coordinate campaigns in British Columbia, Quebec and other provinces to empower local governments to reduce emissions by getting gas out of buildings. Stand.earth has developed legal research and specific municipal resources for citizens and local elected officials to implement local by-laws to electrify buildings.
