Background
School Mental Health ASSIST (SMH ASSIST) is a provincial implementation support team designed to help Ontario school boards promote student mental health and well-being, provide school mental health leadership, resources and coaching support. SMH ASSIST employs an implementation science framework to help Ontario’s 72 school boards approach student wellbeing in a way that is systematic, intentional and evidence-based.
Full Description
SMH ASSIST will use a grant from the Foundation for two main goals: 1) cultivating a more in-depth analysis of how and why the SMH ASSIST approach is effective and sharing these lessons across jurisdictions; 2) helping teachers employ everyday practices to support mental health by co-creating, prototyping and scaling a capacity-building initiative that uses implementation science principles to integrate everyday mental health practices into lesson plans and daily routines.
