Northern Manitoba Food, Culture, and Community Collaborative

Background of the organization

The Northern Manitoba Food, Culture, and Community Collaborative (NMFCCC) is a collaborative of northern community people, advisors, funders and organizations working together to foster healthier and stronger communities in Northern Manitoba. NMFCCC aims to improve access to healthy foods and develop resilient local economies. McConnell has supported the Collaborative since its initiation in 2013. This funding is a renewal of a previous five-year funding partnership.

Project description

With funds pooled from multiple funders, NMFCCC will provide modest grants to support community-led food, agriculture, and cultural projects across Northern Manitoba. It will also enable the sharing of learnings between communities and to broader audiences (e.g., governments, other funders) as part of broader efforts to address systemic barriers to accessing healthy, affordable food in the North. This funding will support NMFCCC to work with and mentor other participatory funding collaboratives emerging across Turtle Island.
