Les Journées de la culture

Background

Les Journées de la culture focuses on making arts and culture more accessible by bringing the general public into contact with artists and the artistic process. The organizations core activity is an event in which hundreds of individual artists and arts organizations open their doors to the public for three days each autumn, providing free access and a look behind the scenes.

Full Description

With the Foundations support, Les Journées de la culture is celebrating and building on its first 10 years of success by going beyond the three-day event and working to strengthen artists ability to work with communities, to offer a complementary program in schools, to support the creation of public works of art and to reach out to linguistic and cultural communities.

The Foundation believes that public involvement in artistic and cultural production is an effective means of engaging citizens and building a sense of community.
