Kids Help Phone

Background

Established in 1989, Kids Help Phone has a mission to improve the well-being of children and youth in Canada by providing anonymous and confidential professional counselling, referrals, and information in English and French, through technologically-based communications media.

Full Description

Kids Help Phone is a free professional counselling, information and referral service available to children and youth anywhere in Canada, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In 2011, based on input from users, Kids Help Phone launched an online chat and instant messaging service, enabling young people to reach out for help using an increasingly common mode of communication.

A grant from the Foundation will allow Kids Help Phone to hire the additional counselling staff and make the necessary technical upgrades to respond to the growing numbers of children and youth seeking online counselling.
