Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK)

Background of the organization:

Founded in 1971, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the well-being of Canada’s 55,000 Inuit. ITK represents and promotes the interests of Inuit on a wide variety of environmental, social, cultural and political issues and challenges facing Inuit on the national level.

 

Grant description:

A grant from the Foundation will enable ITK to initiate the work of developing and implementing an Inuit-specific approach to early childhood developmental screening and assessment. This will be done through the development of a community-supported project plan, guided by a project charter and involving multiple public, private and philanthropic partners.
