Every Day Advocates – GreenPac

Background of the organization

GreenPAC is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to make the environment a priority in political campaigns and for candidates of all political parties in Canada through citizen engagement in the political process. They have successfully endorsed political candidates and mobilized citizens in two federal elections and three provincial elections. Their successful 2019 federal election campaign consisted of 104 environmental debates across Canada in one day, attended by more than 16,500 participants. With a wide base of organizers across the country, they are well positioned to grow and increase their impact between election cycles.

Project Description

GreenPAC’s goal is to sustain civic engagement between elections and hold elected officials accountable to their commitments regarding the environment through public Town Halls. The Foundation’s contribution will be used to provide community groups with a longer-term strategy to build a sustained, engaged, and unified voice for environmental progress which will demonstrate to all political parties that it should be a priority. GreenPAC plans to organize 100 Town Halls for the Environment in 2021 and provide training for community organizers on how to engage with MPs between election cycles.
