Free the Children

Background of the organization:

Free The Children was founded in 1995 by 12-year-old Craig Kielburger and has become one of Canada’s largest and best known charities. Today, it offers youth educational programs in the United States and United Kingdom, as well as Canada, with a staff of 200 and annual budget of $23 million. While initially focused on international development, Craig and his brother Marc have come to recognize that their core competency lies in fostering skills and awareness in young people that enable them to contribute to voluntary organizations here and internationally.
