Background of the organization
For Our Kids is a pan-Canadian network of parents and grandparents working on climate projects and campaigns. They facilitate access to experts and information, and help organize events for local groups (e.g., meetings with elected officials) in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec. Learnings and campaigns are coordinated across the network.
Ongoing projects and campaigns include increasing uptake of electric school buses, decarbonizing pension-fund investments and bank lending and calling for government support to workforce transition into the low-carbon economy sectors.
Project description
Funding will be used to support workshops and communications, as well as to recruit and support new participants in the local groups’ governance, as well as the governance of For Our Kids, that reflects the cultural, geographic and racial diversity of Canadians.
To increase diversity and inclusion, the group will identify, cultivate and support the development of teams in indigenous, multi-ethnic, rural and underrepresented areas.
