About the organization

Established in 2012, eQualit.ie provides civil society organizations with accessible technology platforms, and capacity building for organizations to better defend and support human rights and freedoms in the digital age.

Grant Description:

With support from the McConnell Foundation, eQualit.ie will create an open source version of “Deflect” their internet security tool. A version of “Deflect” tailored to nonprofits will help protect the data of Canadian non-profit organizations and defend civil society and human rights groups from digital attack. Their new business model would see profits from their work with businesses being used to offset the costs of subsidizing non-profits to benefit from the same level of support.
