Discourse Media

Background

Founded in 2014, Discourse Media is an award-winning independent media company that produces and enables in-depth journalism about complex issues. Its journalism seeks to provide readers with access to information that they can act upon, and in addition to its work in Canada, it has worked with the Knight Foundation on the international 8-80 Cities initiative, and with multiple partners on an ongoing global enquiry into renewable energy.

Grant Description

Support from the Foundation will help Discourse Media to consolidate and build on its initiatives and strengthen an innovative new approach to public interest journalism in Canada. The Foundation’s contribution will be used to hire staff to focus on business development and partnerships, develop a digital strategy to position Discourse Media as a solutions journalism publisher, research into financial models, and training for young journalists.
