Culture pour tous

Background

In 1997, Culture pour tous created Les Journées de la culture hoping to make culture accessible to all Montrealers by encouraging arts organizations to open their doors to the public during a free, city-wide event held one weekend each year. Today, with Foundation support, the program has become a popular Quebec-wide event that is also the model for Culture Days across Canada.

Culture pour tous has become an internationally-recognized leader in promoting public participation and engagement in the arts. It is the main driver behind establishing cultural mediation as a field: writing and publishing about the practice, helping to create an academic discipline, and convening two international conferences in partnership with UQAM, the City of Montreal, and the Government of Quebec.

Grant Description

The Foundation’s grant enables Culture pour tous to increase the practice of cultural mediation in Quebec by providing training and support to communities in several regions of the province, creating networking opportunities, and organizing research
