Background of the organization
Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) is an organization that believes that food is a basic right. CFCC brings people together around good food to help communities thrive. With almost 400 partners across the country, the organization builds inclusive, culturally responsive Community Food Centres, shares knowledge, creates health-focused programs, and advocates for equitable policy change.
Project description
Existing federal income support programs overlook single, working-age Canadians who experience poverty. CFCC will advocate establishing the Canada Working-Age Supplement (CWAS) to foster economic and social inclusion. CFCC will build the capacity of partners to advance CWAS through training, communication and community organizing support to ultimately connect community members to income programs that support their health and well-being. It will also establish regional networks for collaboration, training and joint advocacy.
