Clean Economy Fund

Background of the organization

The Clean Economy Fund (CEF) was recently created by a group of funders including the Ivey, Metcalf, Donner, Trottier, Echo, Chisholm-Thomson, Jarislowsky and McConnell foundations. It is a collaborative innovation, granting and investment initiative focused on accelerating the shift to a prosperous, low-carbon Canadian economy. CEF develops and promotes strategies to accelerate systemic change, in areas like sustainable finance, innovation for clean economy and green energy.

Grant description

In partnership with the Canadian Energy Efficient Alliance, the CEF will aim to shift industry norms and building codes related to energy efficiency. The CEF will also use funds from the Foundation to undertake communications campaigns in three provinces (Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia) as well as at the national level. It will emphasize policy options and economic benefits of investing in energy efficiency and it will disseminate best practices in energy efficiency to reduce utility rates and improve regulations.
