British Council

Background

Founded in 1934, the British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities. It has offices in 110 countries and 190 cities, including Toronto and Montreal.

Grant Description

In 2015, the British Council and the Foundation piloted an international social enterprise internship program. Twenty student social entrepreneurs interned at Canadian or UK social enterprises and reported improved proficiency in problem solving and teamwork, as well as gaining the knowledge and inspiration necessary to work in the social enterprise field. Funding from the Foundation will aid the British Council to further embed the Social for Social Impact program with postsecondary partners and social enterprise incubators in Canada and the UK over the next 3 years.
