Background

Through the practice of “creative placemaking,” Ateliers Créatifs works with borough councils, real estate developers and the broader creative community to redevelop properties in neighbourhoods in transformation, ensuring that artists are offered affordable long-term leases or purchase terms that value their unique contribution to urban renewal.

Grant Description

A grant from the Foundation will enable Ateliers Créatifs to develop and manage a substantially larger portfolio of residential/commercial projects in low-income neighbourhoods favoured by artists. Funds will be used to conduct extensive community outreach and engagement activities while it embarks on building a greater volume of projects. By developing a larger portfolio will ensure its presence in key neighbourhoods is part of broader urban renewal, carried out without the wholesale displacement of low-income households.
