Background
The ACT Foundation, created in 1985, is a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Canadians to save lives by training people in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation techniques (CPR). One strategy for achieving this goal is to establish CPR training programs in high schools across Canada.
About
The Foundation’s grant helped ACT implement the program in all Quebec high schools with the goal of including CPR into the province’s new high school curriculum so that it becomes mandatory, long-term and self-sustaining. To do this, ACT built partnerships with the provincial government, local health authorities, agencies such as the Red Cross and St. Johns Ambulance, school boards and service clubs.
