Matthew House Ottawa

Background of the organization:

Matthew House provides shelter, food and refugee settlement assistance, including volunteer opportunities, in a family atmosphere to refugee claimants so that they may begin their journey to independence as members in Canadian society.

They also help those who are transitioning to permanent housing make their new space feel like home. The Matthew House warehouse is stocked by the generous and gently used donations from the Ottawa community.

Grant description:

MHO’s Furniture Bank helps clients who cannot afford basic household items for a minimum standard of living. This grant will help MHO expand and modify the work of the Furniture Bank, which can no longer operate with volunteers (most of whom are seniors) due to COVID-19.
