Context

The Commission on Environmental Taxation was established by a group of experienced economists from across Canada, experts in public policy, to broaden the debate on ecosystem policy reform from Academic sphere to the application of concrete policies. The Eco-Tax Commission and its commissioners are fully independent and willing to serve policy makers at all levels of government.

The work of the Canadian Ecological Tax Commission is supported by the diversity of views of an advisory committee whose members are drawn from the business, environmental and political communities in Canada.

Full Description

A grant from the Foundation supports the work of the Ecological Tax Commission of Canada, launched on November 4, 2014. The mission of the Commission is to propose and promote concrete fiscal solutions for Canada to stimulate the innovation needed to Economic and environmental prosperity.

The Commission will publish and debate research findings and recommendations that are grounded in the unique character of Canada and the diversity of its regions in economic and political terms. It will address the most pressing issues facing Canadian provinces and cities, including air and water quality, environmental disasters, greenhouse gas emissions, transportation and congestion.
