Please note that due to the large volume of applications received, we have closed the intake of new applications to the Food Rx: COVID-19 Patient Food Security Fund.

The McConnell Foundation has made an inaugural $500,000 grant towards two funds to help meet frontline healthcare needs in light of COVID-19, without duplicating government funding. These funds will be administered by key healthcare networks:

  • HealthCareCAN’s “COVID-19 Frontline Healthcare Staff Support Fund” will support frontline staff needs for childcare, counselling and healthy food, along with meeting patient needs for communications support to connect with their families.
  • Nourish’s “Food Rx: COVID-19 Patient Food Security Fund”, will provide support for health care organizations to meet the needs of their patients for whom the pandemic has created, or is exacerbating, food insecurity.
