Environmental Defence

Background of the organization 

Environmental Defence is a leading Canadian environmental advocacy organization that works with government, industry and individuals to defend clean water, a safe climate and healthy communities. 

For nearly 40 years, Environmental Defence has worked at the municipal, provincial and federal level to safeguard freshwater, create livable communities, decrease Canadians’ exposure to toxic chemicals, end plastic pollution, tackle climate change and build a clean economy. 

Project description 

Funding will contribute to the National Public Transit Campaign. The goal is to work with coalition partners to intervene collectively through a new federal-provincial transit funding agreement, government relations and public mobilization. Initial focus will be in Ontario, where 60% of transit users reside, then scaling to Quebec, BC and other provinces.
