AQPERE

Background

AQPERE was founded in 1990 to convene and support organizations involved in environmental education in Quebec. It continues to play a primary role in this effort and collaborates with similar associations in Canada and internationally.

About

AQPERE is providing support to Quebec college and university partners to develop their sustainable campus initiatives, including green college certification, awards for innovative approaches to campus greening and zero-carbon campuses (where institutions calculate their greenhouse gas emissions and then seek to both reduce and mitigate them). AQPERE hopes that eventually all of the 37 colleges and 12 universities in Quebec will join the sustainable campus movement.

AQPERE is also strengthening its collaboration with Sierra Youth Coalitions Sustainable Campus program and developing an initiative with the institutions located along the St-Lawrence to improve the health of the river.
