Evergreen

A grant from the Foundation will enable Evergreen to lay the groundwork for a Canadian civic commons strategy. They will build partnerships and design a national program for a placemaking movement that will enhance the network of civic assets in cities across Canada. During the next six months Evergreen will develop the relationships, research and program design for its national civic commons strategy.

Priorities will include:

  • developing the outline of a Civic Assets Fund to inform the Ministry of Infrastructure and Communities’ Phase II Budget in 2017.
  • initiating locally driven coalitions to establish social enterprise incubators and change labs, to address such issues as youth unemployment and laneway housing.
  • convening and hosting a Placemaking Canada conference in Vancouver in fall 2016.
  • coordinating the 2016 100 in 1 Day event, as a precursor to its becoming a larger event in 2017.
