British Council

Context

Founded in 1934, the British Council is the UK’s international organization dedicated to educational opportunities and cultural relations. It has offices in 110 countries and 190 cities, including Montreal and Toronto.

Full Description

In 2015, the British Council and the Foundation piloted an international program of internships in social entrepreneurship. Twenty student social entrepreneurs trained in social enterprises in Canada or the UK; They reported improved problem-solving and teamwork skills, and gained the knowledge and desire to work in the field of social entrepreneurship. Funding from the foundation will help the British Council to further implement the Students for Social Impact program with post-secondary partners and social enterprise nurse practitioners in Canada and the UK over the next three years.
